Karel and Josef Capek are accredited with coining the word robot. It’s base is from the Czech words “Robota” meaning drudgery or servitude. And the word “Robotnik” meaning peasant or serf. The word which intially was always capitalized was made popular by its’ use in the play “R.U.R Rossum’s Universal Robots)”
