December 4th, 2007 by FweebMost people are unaware of this, but all humans have an emergency air reservoir located in their heads for situations where their airway isn’t blocked, but they’re cut off from a ready oxygen supply (like being submerged in water). In those situations, the emergency air reservoir opens and passes air to the lungs by way of the eustachian tubes.
The reservoir re-fills by slowly accumulating air through the ear canal.
