Amateur tapestry weaver, Jensen K. Phlozaik, was the first human to ever give himself an emergency blood transfusion by mouth-siphoning out his blood with bendy straws and temporarily replacing it with maple syrup.  By doing this, he was able to stay alive an extra 3 hours while he waited for the emergency rescue team to find him.
