August 24th, 2008 by FweebThe term “brick and mortar stores” did not actually originate with the advent of the internet. People often assume that, since it’s a common misconception that the concrete that holds brick walls together is called mortar. It isn’t. The term actually comes from the first world war where soldiers actually did not have much in the way of artillery. They had some mortar rounds, but they were not powerful enough to do much damange. To solve this, the soldiers loaded bricks with the mortars. This made them much more effective… especially when aimed at stores.
